FIREONE WIRELESS TRANSCEIVER

Wireless Connection Device

FireOne’s™ wireless system sets the standard for how wireless systems should perform. Whether controlling small stage shows or world record setting displays, FireOne wireless is the professional’s choice. FireOne wireless achieves reliable communications measured in kilometers and miles, not meters and feet like the competition.

Every control panel manufactured by FireOne is wireless capable. To wirelessly communicate with an unlimited number of other wireless control panels, or wireless firing modules, simply connect a Wireless Transceiver to your existing control panel.  Additionally, FireOne supports both wired and wireless operation simultaneously.

KEY FEATURES

  • Provides wireless interconnect of FireOne control panels and wireless firing modules to create vast networks of highly reliable interconnected devices
  • 2-Wire technology promotes remote placement of wireless transceiver for maximum signal clarity
  • Utilizes advanced military grade technology that employs signal redundancies to ensure wireless signals are received, even in harsh environments
  • Transceiver draws power directly from the control panel. No batteries to replace or recharge
  • Small size and light weight; easy to transport and store
  • Waterproof design (IP67) for wet environments
  • Extruded aluminum case and extended temperature range for operation in harsh environments

DESIGN SUMMARY

FireOne’s Wireless Transceiver carries the imprint of FireOne’s relentless drive to manufacture optimal products that are best suited for their intended use. The simple fact that FireOne’s Wireless Transceiver is a stand alone device, and not buried in a control panel, provides user flexibility to optimize communications in substandard situations.

The 2-wire interconnection, utilized by the Wireless Transceiver, provides users with placement options that would otherwise be impossible. This design choice, coupled with the small size and weight, makes remote placement easy and practical. When marginal signals are encountered or intermittent communications are experienced, relocation of the transceiver and it attendant antenna are fast and easy to accomplish by simply extending the 2-wire connection between the transceiver and control panel.

A standard gain antenna, supplied with each transceiver, connects to the external antenna connection and supports normal operation. The external connector also provides the connection point for various antennas that may be beneficial in difficult environments where extra long-range operation or interference suppression is required or desired.

  • Status and diagnostic LEDs are located on the antenna end of the transceiver
  • The blue LED is the “In-Range” indicator that signifies that transceiver is operating
  • The yellow LED indicates when the transceiver is receiving a message
  • The green LED indicates when the transceiver is sending a message
  • Additional wireless status and diagnostics are provided through FireOne’s UltraFire software which monitors the received signal strength (RSSI) and, for wireless field modules, the stored energy of the battery

WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY

FireOne’s communications system was conceived, invented and perfected by FireOne in 1999 and incrementally and continually improved year after year. This cutting-edge digital system is the default communications scheme for all FireOne control panels, transceivers, and field (firing) modules. The wireless construct of the communications system replaces the 2-Wire physical wiring with a proprietary military grade wireless link that provides identical functionality as the wired version. The wireless modules are fully compatible with all other devices within the FireOne system. Operational range is exceptional, exceeding 6.0 kilometers.

FireOne’s engineering design provides for an unlimited quantity of wireless field modules to be operated from any output of a control panel. Effectively, thousands of cues can be controlled from a single control panel output. (All control panels have multiple outputs.) FireOne’s advanced system technology enables wireless modules to be kilometers and miles away from the control location with no operational degradation; wherein competitive systems can only measure operational distance in feet. FireOne’s design criteria always places the field modules as close to the pyrotechnic product as possible, minimizing the electric match wiring requirements and thereby increasing the system reliability.

EXAMPLES

The Wireless Transceiver allows any FireOne control panel to connect to a wireless module. The below diagram shows an XLII+ control panel wirelessly connected to five FM-i32Q field modules. In this configuration, the XLII+ would be able to control an unlimited number of FM-i32Q or FM-i8Q wireless field modules.

All FireOne control panels are capable of being operated in wired and wireless mode, simultaneously. This means that a control panel can have field modules wired to an output that work in perfect unison with wireless field modules that are connected to the wireless transceiver on a separate output.

In addition to controlling wireless firing modules, the Wireless Transceiver can be used to communicate between a wireless master control panel and a remote control panel. This is a very beneficial and cost effective solution to setting up a large display. For instance, if a control center is located over a mile away from a barge, rather than running wire through the water to the modules, the user could set up a remote panel on the barge and control all firing from their wireless master panel.
